There was a time I would have played
Leonard Cohen till break of day.
Famous Blue Raincoat fifty times
to trouble more my troubled mind.
A voice so mournful it confides:
I have been with you to the dark side.
We are both prisoners on the dark side.
Furthermore, I hear him say,
tomorrow won’t be a better day.
It may not be a better day.
I pour the wine a little after late,
reach for Songs of Love and Hate.
Sincerely, E.B.

I still listen to Leonard Cohen to motivate me to write. I like the old songs more than the new. Good poetry for the Poet of music.

Many thanks for your comment, I agree about the early ones being the best. There are times in life, like tonight, when I can listen to nothing else – a true poet.

The list of Cohen songs I could listen to fifty time, or already have, is worrisome.

He is a true poet and his songs are a place you can go when there is nowhere else to go. Unique, a complete original. Thanks for your comment.
